The ancient Appian Way is one of Rome’s oldest roads, and this private tour will take you out of the busy traffic of Rome, to discover the history of the Roman Empire surrounded by beautiful countryside.
We will first visit the Baths of Caracalla, where your private guide will take you through the magnificent remains of these thermal complex, among the biggest ever built in the Roman Empire.
Then we will drive along the Old Appian Way to reach the Catacombs of San Sebastiano where we will go underground to discover the burial places of the ancient Christians.
The visit will continue with the Circus of Maxentius, the most preserved racetrack in Ancient Rome, built by the emperor for chariot races in honor of his son, and second in size only to the Circus Maximus.
We will then reach the monumental Tomb of Caecilia Metella, considered to be the most famous landmark of the Old Appian Way.
