Shore excursion to Rome for cruise passengers. Includes pick up and return to the port in Civitavecchia
Your day-trip to the Eternal city begins with a private car pick-up directly from your ship at the Civitavecchia dock.
You will then arrive at the center of Rome to meet your private guide and start the tour at the Colosseum, the most impressive site of ancient Rome, we’ll then continue with a visit to the Roman Forum that was the most important meeting place for the political, religious and commercial life of Ancient Rome.
We’ll then meet the car again to drive to the Fountain of Trevi, the most famous fountain in Italy, Spanish Steps, a masterpiece of late Baroque architecture, Pantheon, the most preserved of the Ancient buildings and prototype for all Renaissance domes, and then to Piazza Navona with beautiful Baroque fountains by Bernini (time for lunch in a typical restaurant).
Following a lunch break, we’ll drive to Vatican City. You will visit the highlights of the Vatican Museums including the Sistine Chapel, then St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest church in the world, and then we’ll walk through Saint Peter’s Square to meet the driver that will drive you back to the dock in time to board your ship.
We’ll prepay your entrance fees in advance to avoid the long queues at the Colosseum and Vatican.
Since the tour is done with private transportation and private guide, further customization of the tour is possible to accommodate special needs and desires.
